After canceling his performance at the 2018 iHeartRadio Music Festival on September 21st in Las Vegas, Sam Smith is giving a health update to fans.

After leaving Vegas this weekend, Sam headed straight for Boston to see his voice doctor, and says he is "luckily ok," while thanking fans for their support and kind words. The UK singer wrote in an Instagram post, along with a picture of him at the doctor's office:

"Hello beautiful people. Thank you for all your lovely messages. Just been to see my voice doctor in Boston after last night’s scare in Vegas, everything is luckily ok but I just need to rest it this week in preparation for the start of Asia tour next week. I’m sorry again everyone. All my love, Sam xx"

On Friday night's festival, Sam tweeted a message to fans, informing them that he would not be performing later that evening, and sending his sincerest apologies. He wrote:

"Dear all, Due to unforeseen circumstances which transpired after rehearsal, it became clear that I’m sadly unable to perform at the iHeart Radio Music Festival in Vegas tonight. I am so so sorry about this and I want to apologise to all my fans. All my love, always. Sam x."

Meanwhile, at the festival on stage, host Ryan Seacrest echoed Smith's sentiments, and said, "Sam is extremely sorry. He wants to apologize to all of you, all of his fans. We love Sam. Sam has been a part of our iHeart family for many, many years, and we look forward to seeing him really soon. Love you, Sam."

Friday night of the festival included performances from artists like Fleetwood Mac, Childish Gambino, Jack White, Rae Sremmurd, Panic! at the Disco, Jason Aldean, Mariah Carey, and Kygo.
