Conversations around mental health and the importance of it were sparked this past week (again) when Simone Biles unexpectedly dropped out of the Olympics team and individual championship finals, siting a worry about her mental health. Viewers of the gymnastics competition noticed that Simone didn't seem like herself while competing. With her dropout of the Olympics, the conversation around mental health has become a focus in conversation again recently and I wanted to highlight some different organizations around the PNW that help those struggling with their mental health that you can seek out for help or be involved with to help those that are struggling with mental health.

NAMI Seattle: addresses the unmet mental health needs within our community through support, referral, education, and outreach.

Social Impact Center/YMCA: support youth and young adults with wraparound services including shelter, counseling, employment training, and educational support, as well as counseling services and suicide prevention for all ages.

Community House Mental Health Agency: An alternative to traditional clinical treatment, Community House provides a supportive family atmosphere for its members in which they can feel a sense of belonging and grow at their own pace.

If you or somebody you know is struggling with their mental health, reach out to somebody. Mental health is a serious issue and should be prioritized for a healthy life.
