On this episode of 90210MG, Tori Spelling, Jennie Garth, and Sisanie Villaclara talk about the episode “Every Dream Has Its Price,” when Brenda gets caught shoplifting, and we get the first glimpse of the famous Peach Pit diner where all the kids hung out. They also get into Tori’s nose job, how Carol Potter loved eating the prop food even when it annoyed the props master, talk about how Gabrielle Carteris was “the den mother” of them all, and joke that Cindy Walsh got a maid even though she didn’t want one because “when you live in Beverly Hills...they just show up on the doorstep, apparently.” Then Robyn Lively joins them to dish about what it was like dating Jason Priestley. She has an interesting perspective because she was with him a year before the show aired, and for a year after it was on, so she saw him get incredibly famous nearly overnight.
Robyn met Jason (and, coincidentally, Jennie) on the set of Teen Angel, and he was her first love: “I loved him with my entire being,” she says. They were both young, 17 and 19, respectively, although Jason liked to pretend he was older; Shannon Doherty once stole his wallet so the whole cast could look at his ID and find out his true age. It was “the sweetest, most trusting relationship,” but after 90210 became such a hit, it got complicated quickly. Robyn had been the celebrity in their relationship before, having been in show business since she was a kid, and thought she could handle it – but the reaction to Jason was so out of proportion that it plagued her with insecurity.
Tori agrees that the show was “life-altering” for all of them, but “it was much different for the boys” because they became overnight heartthrobs. “To this day, Jason has trouble going to shopping malls because of his experiences,” she says; they recall a time that both Jason and Luke Perry had to be “smuggled out of a mall in a laundry basket” because the fans were so intense.
