A Louisiana community was shaken over the weekend when a gunman opened fire at a Metairie gun range on Saturday afternoon (February 20), killing two people and injuring two others. Detectives with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office suspect 27-year-old Joshua Jamal Williams, of New Orleans, as the one who instigated the shooting. He was also killed during the incident.
Police responded to the scene at Jefferson Gun Outlet, a firearm shop and range near New Orleans, after reports of a shooting at the indoor range. According to The New Orleans Advocate, Williams entered the range around 3 p.m. carrying a loaded pistol with extended clip, which is against the rules at the shop. An argument between Williams and the staff ensued, allegedly resulting in Williams firing a warning shot.
Williams then reportedly shot a store clerk, Noah Fishbach, before employees and customers began firing back, WWLTV reports. A second victim was also fatally shot during the incident. Two others were injured and transported to the hospital but were listed as in stable condition.
According to WDSU, the victims killed in the shooting were identified as: Herbert "Noah" Fischbach, 47, of Jefferson; and Veronica Billiot, 59, of Belle Chasse.
