Hurricane Helene crossed the Category 4 threshold as it approaches landfall tonight in Florida's Big Bend.
The latest update from the National Hurricane Center shortly before 5:30 p.m. said Helene has maximum sustained winds of 130 miles per hour.
FEMA says the storm will make a "dead-on hit to Tallahassee."
A storm surge warning is in effect for almost the entire west coast of Florida and the storm surge could reach as high as 20 feet in some areas.
