The third tropical depression of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season formed off the southeast U.S. coast Friday.
"Reports from an Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunter data indicate that maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher gusts," said the National Hurricane Center. "Gradual strengthening is expected, and the system is forecast to become a tropical storm on Saturday."
Parts of South Carolina were under a tropical storm watch. The next name on the list is Chantal.
